Tories Let Vodaphone Off £8 Billion Tax Bill.

After letting Goldman Sachs get away with £10 million in interest on its unpaid tax bill, HM Revenue and Customs has gone one better and allowed Vodaphone to get away without paying its £8 billion tax bill completely. We asked a spokesperson from HMRC for an explaination; "Yes, we're very proud of our complete inability to do our job as far as big business is concerned. We've been far too busy worrying about tax evasion amongst ordinary citizens and making sure they pay the £1,000 fines for returning their tax forms after the deadline. Chasing big business for its tax is all too difficult for us and, anyway, the government doesn't like us chasing "wealth creators" so we're buggered either way. The good news is that Vodaphone have now "donated" several million to the Tory party so that's all right isn't it?" We asked the Tory party for their view; "Marvelous news," a Tory insider told us. "Being short £8 billion in tax from a single business means we can throw thousands of people off benefits with a perfect alibi. If we haven't got the money we can't give it to all those scroungers in wheelchairs can we?"
