Occupation Of Wall Street Goes Largely Unreported.

The occupation of Wall Street in New York by the protest group called "Occupy Wall Street" has continued to be completely ignored by the media in an attempt to make believe that it isn't happening. Protests have spread across the world as ordinary people across Europe and the United States occupy their own city centres in support. "The News In Shorts" has scanned the British media for news of this in vain, with the BBC being almost deafening in its silence. Meanwhile the protestors website on AVAAZ.org has collected over 200,000 signatures for its petition calling for real democracy and is continuing to garner world-wide support despite its lack of publicity. We asked a spokesperson from the BBC for an explaination as to why this news item is being so studiously ignored; "Are you bloody joking? If we run this story the BBC would have no bloody funding at all by the end of the week. We're already facing 20% cuts - imagine what would happen if we upset the government." No government spokesperson was available for comment but we did interview a LibDem backbencher who still believes that democracy has a role to play in Britain; "You have to realise that democracy is all very well until someone disagrees with democratically elected governments. Then it becomes a real inconvenience. It's all very well when a bunch of towelheads protest about tyranny, but its not something we want to see here or in the United States, much less talk about it. The last thing we want is a western version of the "Arab Spring" for God's sake." For those who would like to see a bit more democracy in our democracy I strongly urge them to sign the petition which vcan be found at https://secure.avaaz.org/en/the_world_vs_wall_st/?rc=fb
