Republican Party Suddenly Not In Favour Of Tax Breaks.

President Obama's attempt to cut taxes for the lower paid in the United States has been met with opposition from the Republican party. Apparently cutting tax to the lower paid in order to increase demand is bad while cutting taxes to the rich to increase inequality is good. The same message is being heard here in Britain where public sector workers are to be taxed through changes to their pensions while greedy executives and irresponsible bankers are to get more. Essentially the gloves are off and the mask has been ripped aside - the rich are determined to get richer no matter what the consequencies for the rest of us. In six months the right on both sides of the Atlantic have ridden roughshod over democracy, stifled protest and deliberately pauperised their own citizens to protect themselves from the consequncies of a recession that they have recklessly caused by their greed. The editor would like to apologise for the lack of humour in this piece but then again its not very funny.
