Threat And Counter Threat Over Greece.
We asked a G20 insider for his analysis as to what the hell is going on in Europe; "Basically Greece and the EU are threatening each other with armageddon and both sides are literally crapping themselves. The Greek PM, George Pappandreou opned the batting by threatening a referendum in Greece over the "rescue" deal which basically pauperised the country for a generation. The EU had a fit of apoplexy at this threat from deomcracy and basically threatened to throw Greece out of the Euro and the EU, abandoning them to their fate. Pappandreou countered with the threat to resign, triggering an election in Greece and no agreement to the package for months. The EU was now struck with a full-blown attack of the vapours and backed off at the speed of light. Pappandreou then withdrew his resignation, or rather never tended it in the first place, and then threatened his own parliament with a renewed call for a referendum. The Greek politicians, aware of what the Greek people would say, now backed off as well and the Greek PM dropped the idea of a referendum. Essentially Pappandreou told his parliament "back me or sack me" and the EU "give us a break or we'll break you." Game, set and match to Pappandreou if you ask me - which just goes to show what happens when someone tells these dickheads "up yours.""
